The Sea as a Space for Wellbeing and Connection

A day aboard Galaxie with Associació de Veïnats Son Dameto - Son Pisà

The sea can also be a powerful tool for strengthening wellbeing, bringing people together and creating meaningful connections.

At Fundació Joves Navegants, we work to make sailing much more than simply an experience on the water. Every trip can become an opportunity to share, learn, step away from everyday routines and discover the Mediterranean from a different perspective.

On this occasion, we welcomed the Associació de Veïnats Son Dameto - Son Pisà aboard Galaxie for a day at sea, departing from Club Nàutic Portocolom. For more than 30 years, the association has worked to improve quality of life within its community through activities that encourage participation, active living and stronger connections between neighbours.

The sea as a meeting place

During the trip, sailing became an opportunity to talk, share experiences and enjoy the marine environment in a different way.

Experiences like this bring the Mediterranean closer to people and communities who may not always have had the opportunity to experience it from the sea. But they also create something more difficult to measure: time spent together, new connections and shared experiences that contribute to both individual and collective wellbeing.

The sea offers a setting far removed from everyday life, creating space for conversation, curiosity and connection between people of different ages and backgrounds.

A growing social programme

This experience forms part of Fundació Joves Navegants’ social programme, through which we develop activities combining sailing, education and a deeper understanding of the marine environment.

Our aim is to open up the Mediterranean to more people and create opportunities for learning, participation and wellbeing through the sea.

Each experience is adapted to the group and its needs, using sailing and contact with nature to create meaningful experiences and encourage a closer relationship with the Mediterranean.

Made possible by working together

We would like to thank the Associació de Veïnats Son Dameto - Son Pisà for joining us and sharing their commitment to community and participation.

We would also like to thank Club Nàutic Portocolom, whose support enables us to continue developing initiatives like this from our base in Portocolom.

We will continue working to make the sea an open, accessible and transformative space, where more people can find new ways to learn, share and connect.
