Discovering Kio aboard Galaxie

The educational project “Discovering Kio aboard Galaxie” is the result of a collaboration between Love the Mediterranean and Creative for the Planet.

“Discovering Kio aboard Galaxie” is much more than a school activity: it is a transformative experience born from the collaboration between Love the Mediterranean, Creative for the Planet and the zero-emission sailing yacht Galaxie. A project that brings together literature, marine science and environmental action to help children build a meaningful connection with the Mediterranean.

The journey begins in the classroom with the story “Kio, the Great Seahorse”, written by Sophia Brucklacher and illustrated by Jan Anderson. Through this illustrated story, children are introduced to the world of Posidonia, some of the Mediterranean’s most iconic species, and the threats facing marine ecosystems.

After this first introduction, students are invited to experience a unique voyage aboard Galaxie. During the trip, they discover how its innovative zero-emission propulsion system works and explore how technology can contribute to protecting the planet. The experience then continues in the water with a guided snorkelling session, offering the opportunity to observe the richness of the marine environment first-hand.

The day concludes with a beach clean-up activity, encouraging children to take an active role in caring for the environment.

This project reflects our commitment to an approach to education that connects, inspires and encourages action.

It is an experience designed not only to share knowledge, but also to raise awareness and foster a sense of responsibility through direct experience and contact with nature.
